It is amazing how accurate big bore ar's can be . I think the low power scopes are where its at with these guys , I have a leupold mk4 cqt on my socom and love it . I have been eye balling the vx-r patrol rifle scope so thanks for the info on the hog plex . Have you tried the illumination in sun light?
On a side note you might want to try the lancer advanced warfighter mag . I have switched to them exclusively for my ar variants . they load easy and dont have a center rib so you can load a bit longer bullet than a p-mag . |
| The VX-R "Hog" model scope is beyond sweet. No, I haven't tried it in bright sunlight yet, I'd be surprised if there were issues. I'll try one of those Lancer mags...anything would be better than the steel one that came with it. I was going to use Pmags but if the Lancer mags work I'd rather do that so it's easier to keep them separate. Thanks for the tip! |

Did you need to alter the feed lips or ?? |
| Nice gun. Note that some people have reported issues with collapsble stocks collapsing with recoil. That Magpul locks up, so it should be more resistant, but you still may want to pop the stock off every once and awhile to check the lug and see if it's deforming. |

I had read about the same thing before putting mine on but most of the cases I read said the Magpul CTR help up extremely well. I'll start checking it after every shooting session just to be sure. If I have problems I'm going with the Mako recoil reducing stock. |

Did you need to alter the feed lips or ?? no I am using it on a 458 socom . the p-mags are good magazines for 5.56 but they have a ridge down the middle so when using a variant like the 300 blk , 450 bushmaster , 458 socom or 50 wulf , the ridge can hamper bullet length and cause feed problems . the lancer does not and no I didnt have to adjust the feed lips grind a half moon or anything , just load and shoot . In reguards to the magpul ctr stock I have had one on my socom for a little over 5 years with way over 1000 rounds down range and no issue at all with the stock collapsing . the only negative I can say is I decided to look like one of those rugged old guys and grew a nice grizzled looking goatee and the ctr would pluck some facial hair from time to time . A .25 cent bic razor fixed that issue.
