So, Wife and I went to the range today. quick trip. Just wanted to bump the zero from 25 yds to 50yds and try to work on another. Long story short, it was cold (15 degrees) so we didn't stay long, but this is what I'm working with. Prone shooting off of range bag.
Rifle Barrel Specs:
14.5" FN 1:7 midlength CHF Barrel
Ammunition used
Hornady 75 gr Match BTHP .223

1st 2-shot group measured 1.5" This was aimed at dead center target so I knew where I needed to go.
2nd 2-shot pair was the closest 2 on the board, measuring about 3/16" I think this was a fluke and pure luck.
3rd. pair was another 1.5" and I know I pulled the first shot when trying to steady breathing.
4th pair was about 11/16" apart. aimed at lower corner
5th pair was the worst at just over 1.75" apart. I tried shooting with both eyes open here since my contacts werent cooperating with the cold air.
6th and final pair was the most consistent as far as breathing and point of aim. MEasured 3/8" between the two shots.

Also was a good day to see how it likes the cold. no issues even when shooting it like a paintball gun off hand.
Need to add a trigger to it. Getting the POF 4lb. single stage here in a couple of months.

I feel this is a pretty acceptable Range day considering all the variables.
Optics for the rifle are the PA gen III AA red dot. 3 MOA reticle. Only has around 40 rounds through it, but It is doing fine. Definitely not fog proof though.

Any suggestions/ advice are appreciated.

Not bad...

I'd recommend shooting at least 5 shot groups since they will tell you more about your rifle and how it shoots.

Just keep shooting and working on the basics and you'll see your groups get a lot better.

Thanks, this is my 3rd AR, but this one definitely has the time and leg work going into it. I only shot pairs because I was low on the Hornady and was going to try to get one of my others zeroed at 100. the weather was just a tad bit too much today. I didnt want to put all my faith in a zero in 15 degree weather either. I've been trying to work on Ready up drills, Dry firing in the house and working on target acquisition for off hand shooting. I've never really shot for groups. first AR was just a range toy for clays at 100 yards, but they've become a more serious tool for us at home in regards to HD and overall preparedness. I'm trying my best to work on one thing at a time and master one subject before i move onto another.

Thanks for suggestions. Weather permitting, might go net weekend and try 5 shot groups to get a better idea. overall im happy with how it is performing. I didnt post its maiden voyage but off hand at 25 yds, ready up drills everything is staying in a 4 inch area with the magpul BUS... The front sight post is just too wide for my liking but they get the job done i suppose.
