I had been shooting nothing but m855 for the past couple years but it seems a lot of m855 has dried up or is real expensive when I do find it. So just wondering what every one else is shooting for their range/plinking ammo

I buy and shoot what is readily available and yes it is all expensive and has been for over 4 years now.

WPA 55gr.   I bought several thousand rounds for $0.21 each, delivered to my door.  It runs about 23-24 cents each now, but it's still a much better deal than buying 855 for range work.

I use Wolf, Tula or Brown Bear; whatever steel cased ammo is cheapest.

Only you and your gun will know. Get some plinking ammo and find out.

Started switching over to steel ammo for this reason. Hording whatever brass (especially M855) I come across. Thankfully steel has been GTG in my rifles. They do all have extractor upgrades if that counts. Silver Bear can be found pretty damn cheap on some sites.

Most of the ammo I have for the range is PMC Bronze .223.  Lately I am trying to focus a lot more on sooting in standing position so I will probably stock up on more the steel case stuff.  I ran 80 rounds of Brown Bear and 40 rounds of WPA Military Classic through my rifle at my last trip to the range and while it looks a little dirtier than usual, I did not have any malfunctions.  I am probably going to shoot nothing but Brown Bear on my next trip, with maybe 1 mag of good brass case stuff before to confirm zero and another after to see if I get any stuck cases due to switching from steel to brass without cleaning (not sure if that's still an issue with the current crop of steel stuff)

The Brown Bear was $233 shipped for 1k rounds from SGAmmo which is considerably less expensive than current prices for Federal XM193 etc.

For shooting 100yd and beyond from the bench I will probably stick to PMC Bronze / IMI M855 or any other high-qualtiy / more expensive ammo I may buy.

I too use m855 for the range. I normally stock up on it when I see it in stock at walmart or sportsmans. I been looking into other ammo because m855 is getting more exspensive.

I have M855 and 50/55/62 grain TSX stocked for SHTF.

For range use I shoot handloaded Hornady 55 grain FMJBT.

Prvi M193. I got it for $5.19 for a box of 20 just a month or so ago.
