| Noticed an interesting story in the current issue of Small Arms Review. A company named MGI is selling a spring loaded recoil buffer that is supposed to reduce the cyclic rate of the M16. Small Arms Review tested the item and concluded that it delivers more controlled accuracy during full auto, muzzle flip is almost none exsistant. The item is a drop in, and it replaces the standard buffer. If this thing works that well in a full auto M16 then does anyone know if it will have any effect on firing the AR15 rapidly? Hydraulic buffers are overkill in a semi auto. Get a 9mm Buffer for your .223. (if you have a carbine buffer tube that is) FAR Less recoil, tighter groups, and slightly increased reliablity. They go for about 20 bucks if you can find them, and they're worth every penny! |

Johnny223, I have one of the MGI rate reducing buffers and am having it sent to SMGLee for some testing. I haven't actually tried it yet. AAC also makes a rate reducing buffer that works pretty good, neither of these are hydraulic in nature. It could theoretically reduce the recoil impulse in semi-auto, but not enough that I would use one that way IMHO. |
