OK, I know this has been asked a million trillion times, but not in the last 30 days. I just got a new DPMS .22LR upper, and the FSB is canted quite badly to the left. If I were to tap out the tapered pins (I know, left-to-right) and rotate the FSB to the correct orientation, wouldn't the old grooves in the barrel now be incorrect ? How do I deal with this ? Open up the grooves on the barrel with a needle file ? Stick the FSB in place with chewing gum ? What ?

At least there is no gas system to align here.

It would probably be easier to just buy a clamp-on FSB.  Then you don't have to worry about the position of the taper pin holes.

Thanks for ths suggestion... can anyone recommend a supplier of a clamp on FIXED front sight base (rather than a dovetail or folding unit) ?

Take it back! Don't fix somebody else's mistake. If someone sold you a messed up upper, just take it back.

I feel the same, but am not sure if DPMS would regard this as "out of spec"... isn't 12MOA windage acceptable for MilSpec ? The sight is visibly off, but only shoots about 3" right at 25yds (~12MOA). I'm going to call them Monday to see what they propose.
