I recently aquired 2 well worn mags that need refinishing. They were obviously used a lot. But they have no markings at all. None on the body and non on the floor plate. One mag has 6 weld spots along the spine The other has 9 weld spots. 3 of the welds go in deep the other 6 are light They both look exactly the same as other DPMS or Armalite mags i have structurally. Any ideas? Maybe surplus mags didnt get markings? |

There have been blank replacement floorplates sold in the past, so that may be the source of the ones you have. Since the mag bodies are aluminum, they are probably USGI-type mags. The aftermarket aluminum mags are noticably thinner, have a black paint finish, aren't hard-coat anodized, don't have the "attached-at-the-rear" feedlips that USGI 30s have, have flat floorplates, and have round holes in the sides. -Troy |

I do think the floorplate is aftermarket, but my Armalite and DPMS mags have markings on the mag body themselves that say "LEO and Military Only". These do not. Or do USGI mags not have markings on them? They have only one hole in them. Up the mag body and square shaped. Like the other mags The floorplate is propably aftermarket. They are flat but at the end it curvs upwards to fit into the slot on the mag |

Or do USGI mags not have markings on them? I think I will jump in here before everyone yells at him for having post-ban mags .... HE'S IN CANADA ! Our laws don't apply there. All over 10 round magazines made after 1994 in the usa must be marked , by law, LEO/Military only. Some also say for LEO/Military/Export only. Before 1994 lots of GI mags had no markings on the mag body. I will go with GI mag, aftermarket floorplate. Mainly because no aftermarket mag works well enough to show a "well used" look. |

Yeah this one mag i have looks like it's been through Vietnam. I doubt any aftermarket mag would be this worn. I dont even think ill refinish it. Keep it's authenticity. This mag has seen war for sure. Thanks for the help guys |
