I've been reading these forums for awhile but this is my first post.

I've decided to take the plunge and buy a nice optic for my M4. I've decided on a Trijicon TA31 ACOG.

That means I will also be investing in a folding rear back-up iron sight.

My question is this: You guys that run ACOG's what folding rear BUIS did you go with and why?

I've been looking at those offered by Wilson combat, but they seem rather pricey. Any input would be appreciated.

And yes I have read the FAQ.

Thanks!

I found a really nice polymer version and the peep sights both large and small center exactly the same for POA POI. Small peep aperature swings up so it's inside the larger aperature.  Not a L shaped steel piece like stock.   ARMS #71 L-R  Swan on one side is what the markings on it are. Front and rear were under 80 bucks including tax.  Also lighter weight than steel version I have on my other upper.

Button release, Spring loaded.

On my 5.56 ARs, I use GG&G's MAD Rear BUIS
with ranging arperture, in conjunction with their
flip up front sight.

For me, they are miles ahead of the "A2" style BUIS,
and I prefer shooting M855 or SS109 ammo.

Remember when using an ACOG, you won't be
co-witnessing with your BUIS.

The ACOG comes off, then the BUIS's flip up.

I use the Wilson combat sight on my patrol carbine because I wanted a flip sight that still has an elevation adjustment, plus it's made of steel and is very solid. It has a lot of adjustment but isn't marked with increments. I think I counted at least 60 clicks when I was playing with it, there may be more but that's as far as I moved it. It was good from 50 to 300 yards using a variety of factory 55gr. rounds and all of my handloads 55-77 gr. so I was very pleased with it and still use it. If I were buying another I would get the one with the knurled windage knob as opposed to the coin slot but once that's set it holds true just as good. I like it.

I use the Magpul BUIS. Where in Texas are you located?

Troy folding. Same plane aperture defaults to the large ap when up. Bombproof construction. Set it and forget it.

MBUS.  The price was right on something that I will rarely use.  Good enough for my needs.

Looks like a solid choice.

I was also thinking about Magpul just because my collapsible stock is also Magpul and I'm kind of OCD when it comes to having my components match.
I live in the Permian Basin Area.

The solid steel construction is definitely a plus. Sounds like you didn't regret your purchase.

I use a Troy personally.  As mentioned, they are solid.  Buy once cry once.  Quantico Tactical has 15% off for the rest of the day so if you are itching to buy, it would be a place to start.
