I've seen online before a modification that someone suggested doing to the rear takedown pin where you tap the hole on the back of the receiver and capture the spring and detent with a set screw so that you don't lose or damage it if/when you remove the stock. I think I even recall seeing someone listing "kits" for sale somewhere that included a tap and several set screws for the job.
Is this a bad idea? It seems like if it was such a good idea, someone would be manufacturing lowers with it already done....but maybe not?? Would there be any real reason NOT to do it (other than it just being unnecessary)? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks, Mike W. |

Thanks for the link. I knew I had seen it and even searched, but I guess I didn't look hard enough! |

Went to the hardware store and picked up a 4-40 tap, and then down the street to the best nut/bolt place in my area and got a few of the screws. Already "fixed" my four rifles, and have a few screws left over so I can do them for my buddies too if they want.
This truly is the way they SHOULD be. Thanks for all of the replies. |
