I want to see if I can shrink my group size with a competition rear apeture from Bushmaster. Can anyone tell me how these are swapped out?

Thanks,

Easy.  Depending on whether you have an A1 or A2 receiver you'll just need to get a small punch to drive out the roll pin that holds the windage adjustment knob on to the screw that the aperture is mounted on.

Remove the knob but be careful of the spring and detent bearing under the knob, then just unscrew the screw to take the aperture off.  Repeat in opposite order for reinstalling.  It's really simple.

Sounds quite do-able

Thanks

Even easier the hammering with a punch, make a drive pin from the shank of a small drill bit that is just a little smaller than the diameter of the roll pin.

Tape the jaws of vise grip pliers with electrical tape to prevent scratching.

Open the pliers such that you can grab the knob and pin, positioned over the roll pin, an adjust so that the handles are amost all the way together just as the jaws are about to apply pressure.

(Hold the pin in position with some needle nose pliers as you press with the pliers)

Once you press in a little, you will have to open the pliers and adjust the knob in about half a turn, and repeat, and gradually you can press out the roll pin, all with no beating on the sight.

As you finish pushing out the roll pin, the pressing pin is now in the know holding it on, keeping the spring and detent in place.  Carefully remove the pin while holding the knob in place, and then ease it off the screw.

To reassemble, reverse order, put the spring and detent in place, press the knob back on, slip in the pin you made from the drillbit.

You can replace the roll pin with the pliers, gently pressing it in little by little, pushing out the drill bit shank pin as you go.
