I'm not sure if this is a problem or not, but I have two questions.
1) Should an A2 rear sight assembly have any play in it when mounted on the carry handle? I have two rifles and they will wiggle/twist slighty side to side, is this normal? 2) On one new rifle, the A2 rear sight assembly is not aligned to the carry handle, it sits kinda twisted or out of alignment to the carry handle rails. It's bad enough that I can notice it when I shoulder the rifle. Is this something I can fix myself or should I remove the carry handle/sight assembly and return it to the manufacturer? Thanks for the help. |

Yes, they may have play and wiggle if you put a little side to side force on them with your fingers.
Yes, they may be cocked on a slight angle when sitting in position. You could disassemble and clean / lube the threaded portions plus the detent balls, springs, retaining holes and bearing surfaces. To some degree, it is the nature of the beast. |

The rear sight housing is spring loaded to ride against only the right hand rail of the upper receiver.
This allows some give in the rear sight is it every takes a hit, and will still track the correctly afterwards. So yes, the sight housing slightly canted, and being able to be wiggled is normal.
