I have owned about 6 different AR's but this is the first one I've built. I bought all of the parts from Adco. (Other than the buttstock). The scope is a Leupold clone from 1337 tactical.com. It's a place holder till my DMS-1  and Larue SPR mount comes in.

Particulars:

-RRA Upper and Lower
-16" WOA Mid Gas Barrel w, LoPro Gas Block
-MI Full Length Free Float HG
-RRA 2 Stage National Match Trigger
-Magpul Trigger Guard
-Tango Down FDE Pistol Grip
-CAA 6 Pos. Collapsible Stock
-YHM Phantom Flash Hider

I like the look.  What features make it a REECE, and does the terminology have anything to do with South Africa/Angola?

RECCE - Reconnaissance (in this context a 16" free floating match barrel upper, ACOG optic, originally used by SEALS)

Just like SPR has come to mean an 18" barreled AR with a certain look Recce or Recon has too. As I understand it the NSWG guys wanted something with a little more reach than a M4 so thay had some thing kinda like this built. Someone here surely has better details than this.

My original inspiration was Noveske Rifleworks Afghan Carbine which has a 14.5" barrel.

I may eventally SBR this but 1.5" can't make a big difference.

How front-heavy is the 16" barrel with the MI free float tube and the big glass.  I tried to shoot offhand a build almost identical to yours and it was extremely front heavy, almost to the point of being unusable.  I'm curious if others perception are the same.

I weighed the rifle on a plain old home scale and it came out at 10lbs without a magazine. That sounds heavy to me so I'm not sure it the scale is correct. However, I can easily hold the rifle with the pistol grip alone and it is not front heavy at all. This is a medium weight barrel and this is a Clone of a Leupold, so the glass may not be as heavy as the real deal.
