| I have been adding to a couple of Ars in my collection. I am at a loss though for the last one I worked on. I have a Bushy lower and a JT Dist. upper m4 barrel. The gun has a JP trigger and a acer stock. The bolt carrier is a JP stainless. The problem is the recoil. I shot the last gun I built today with the busy upper. There is a noticable difference in the recoil of the JT upper. The Jt upper on the bushy lower really packs more of a kick than the other. Is it because the barrel on the jt is not a chrome lined? Thanks to any help you can give. |
I'm confused. |

ok, from what I can decipher from your post, you have two uppers and one lower. One upper seems to kick more. If that's right and I understand your question, I have to answer it w/ more questions. We'll need info, man. Is one a carbine and the other rifle legth barrel? Are they the same weight (HBAR, fluted, etc)? What muzzle devices are on each barrel (flash suppressors, compensators, nothing etc). Types of handguards on each (rails, M4, CAR, free float?, etc). What upper types (A2? A4?)? Anything like scopes or bipods mounted to one and not the other that would change weight? FWIW, chrome lining will not make a difference in felt recoil. If everything is operating smoothly (bolt carrier not binding in receiver extension or upper, both gas systems good, etc) and the rifles are a similar setup, you shouldn't feel much recoil difference between 2 rifles of different manufacturer. rvb |

Yes I can see how that was confusing. Sorry. I think I have figured out the problem but let me get your input. Ok I have 2 guns. 1st gun Bushy lower JP fire system Jp SS Bolt carrier Acer Stock Flat top with the front site removed and a gas block installed. J&T Dist upper kit. m4 replica 16" barrel This is the gun with the "KICK" 2nd gun J&t Lower Bushy M4 replica upper 14.5 with phantom compressor. Flat Top with the standard front site Colaspeable stock 6 position. This gun works smooth with little to no recoil. So after some more research I have concluded or I think it may be the Gas system. so I ordered a JP Gas block that is adjustable. What do you all think? Thank |
| Are you running the same buffer system? The adj. gas system may help, but they are aluminum and when they get really hot they can get loose. I'd take the carrier out and sell the upper for an LMT. I only run LMT, Bushmaster, Colt, Armalite or CMMG. JP makes some really good parts, too. |

same buffers/springs/receiver extension lengths? (I've no experience w/ acers) is the JP buffer heavier than stock? (no weight info on JP's website) Also, isn't the JP hammer and hammer spring lighter? That means it doesn't absorb as much energy as the stock trigger group and that extra enery goes to the receiver. Not being too familiar w/ JT parts, are the barrels roughly the same weight/profile? 1.5" isn't much difference. Also, when you say "compressor," I assume you mean compensator? That's gonna absorb some kick too if it's a comp. Is everything working properly? Any gas related problems? If not, why "fix" things, IMO. rvb |
