How long is a standard recoil spring supposed to last before it needs replacement?  How about the buffer?  I have a standard A2 Colt, nothing fancy.  I don't recall ever replacing mine when I was in the Army and we ran gobs of ammo through those things...

I use 20rd mags and sometimes the bolt drags a little off the first and second round when it is moving back into battery.  I'm just wondering...

About 2500 rounds, give or take.  There are various factors that influence this figure: ammo, cleaning, and intial quality of the spring.

Hahahahahah!

I have springs with over 10K on them and many have much more!

Campybob has a PMDS M-4 with well over 20K rounds on and it has its original spring.

This is the Internet and bad information travels fast.  It's gotta be stomped on quickly before it spreads.

At least it was not 25 rounds!!! That would be bad news.... you couldn't even get through 1 mag!!!
