Recommend a muzzle break...
I'm looking for something that decreases the recoil for faster follow up shots. I know there isn't much of a kick but after shooting MP5s I'm trying to reduce recoil as much as possible. I don't really care about the increased sound or larger flash. The MB is for a standard M4 (16 inch barrel) & I have tried a DNTC break. DNTC break didn't seem to make any difference. I'm using a heavier buffer too. Any other suggestions? |

FSC 556 from Primary Weapons Systems. Decreases muzzle rise big-time. I just tested it yesterday with about 50 rds and wasn't that Impressed. Maybe because I did it after shooting an MP5 I'm thinking about a smith or AK74 type break if you have a big budget get the KAC costa brake made of inconnel. Supposed to lower the felt recoil to that of a .22lr

Just remember that when you go to the range, you need to be mindful of where you are stationed and how near you are to other shooters.
Nothing can make range enemies like obnoxious brakes on a crowded firing line. I actually cut my last range trip short because of an A-hole shooting an AR with a brake at the next bench. I could feel the blast in my face every shot. All benches taken, nowhere to go but out. Don't be "that guy." |
| I have this brake on my 18inch AR and I have been very happy with it. I have been told its pretty annoying to the people to the sides of me when I am shooting but honestly I dont care. I got it for how it performs, not for how PC it sounds on the firing line. I have a DNTC on my middy and that works well too. Its not nearly as loud though. |

found a post that might help
http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=439298 I may just go with one of the followin : PRI MSTN QC Brake COOLEY COMP MICULEK COMP I'm also thinking about the Smith MB. Any input on that MB? Has anyone ever made the holes on top bigger or will that make the barrel actually go down? |

Brakes on AR's do get annoying to other shooters, but that's life. Brakes on .308's or even .50's are even worse, but that's life. Some people even get irritated being on the right side of semi's because of the brass.

Every single person there has equal right to shoot what ever they want. |

Here is a compensator test done by a writer for Front Sight the IPSC mag
Well written. http://www.68forums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8503 I like the SJC Titan, but the DNTC is a good "tactical brake" I would like to try the SF mb556k myself, its been out of stock for 6 weeks now. |

Here's a link that doesn't require registration. http://www.multigun.com/articles/pkcompensation.pdf The Miculek is only 3% behind the JP Tank Brake but is far cheaper. And less silly looking. |

Ah, I thought everyone could view them, I just got the doc database going this past week. Need to tinker with the settings. Still, its a good place to be anyway

Rearward Movement Down Force TTI Eliminator 63% (tie) 2nd SJC 63% 6th JP Tank 61% 5th Miculek 58% 2rd (tie) Hill’s Thunder 57% 1st JP Cooley 56% 4th Sabre’s Gill 54% 7th DNTC Neth 43% 3rd I think I'll go with the Miculek and drill a hole or 2 (slanted slightly forward) on the top. I may even shave the sides a little. Seems top be the cheapest and is effective. I wonder how the Smith break compares. |

I've used both the PWS FSC556 and currently have the SF MB556k installed on my 18''
The FSC556 does work as advertised, reducing muzzle rise AND flash. But, I picked up a MB556K for $100 off the EE and gave it a shot To ME, the MB556K shot flatter and was easier for me to get the sights back on target. Don't get me wrong, the FSC556 does work great but the MB556K was the better brake. I don't get shot at so I didn't need the flash suppression. So it made sense toswitch to what worked best for my situation. |

Noise is not the issue, a hot blast of gas in your face every time you get ready to take a shot is. No amount of ear and eye protection is going to help when burning powder is peeling the skin off your nose.
I don't care what you shoot, and where any of you got the idea that I wanted to take away your guns or right to shoot them is beyond me. What I'm talking about is just a little common courtesy. If you actually tried, I'm sure you could enjoy shooting that unholy monster of yours without depriving everyone else of their right to enjoy their own guns. In other words, don't be a fucking pain in the ass to everyone near you. But then again you don't care. I'm out. |

I know all about the blast and whatever. I've shot next to guns like that. It hurts like hell sometimes, but I just suck it up. Like I said, it's life, what are you going to do? The only way you're going to be more courteous to the next person is to not shoot your obnoxious gun. Is that what you want everyone to do?

I use a FSC556 and the difference is amazing between a standard birdcage and it ... What barrel length - and what's the difference in "noise signature" like ? 16" barrel, as for the "noise signature" it's a LOT louder to anyone right next to you, the shooter is virtually unaffected by it though... and to the guy saying be mindful of the shooters around you... if we can't go silent, we'll go loud. The reduction in muzzle climb is worth the extra $$$ and recoil is reduced from a bar-fight angry drunk punch, to a soft friendly punch from a buddy. |

I guess you wouldnt like me then, every time i go to the range i fire my Polish M44, people 10 stations away say they can feel it, but they arent annoyed, they just laugh about it. |
