I'm looking for a medium powered variable scope for $600 or less. Illuminated and moa prefferred, but not a requirement. Going on a 16" Larue Stealth Barrel semi-precision build. Was looking at Trijicon accupower 3x9 and the Vortex 2.5x10-44 but VERY open to other suggestions.

I recently bought a Zeiss Terra with the RZ reticle.  Very nice piece of glass for the price (the 3-9x42mm is $360 at Cabelas).

I really like Vortex but I also like Leupold.  I have a Leupold Mark AR 3-9 mildot but for that kind of money you can buy a  Leupold Patrol.  The Vortex Vipers are also nice and I really like 2.5-10 scopes on AR-15's.

Leupold VX-R Patrol 3-9x40 is another great option.

Also Midway's Weaver Tactical 3-10x, not illuminated but great glass, and good price (even better on sale).

Good advice.  I have both scopes and concur.  These are MRAD scopes.  .1 mil per click, tactical turrets with matching milrad based reticles.

If you plan to shoot at distances and make "come up" elevation adjustments with the turret, MRAD may prove easier and simpler than MOA.  I'd never used MRAD system until a few years ago and was amazed at how easy and instinctive it turned out to be.  I'd been using MOA scopes (still do) for over 40 years, but for precision shooting at distance, I'm a happy convert to milrad.

Here's the VX-R Patrol on my 16" Recce build. I have added the metal, fold flat, screw in Leupold Alumina front and rear lens caps. Mount is Larue's LT-104.  The motion-activated Firedot reticle in the scope is amazing.  It can even be made noon day bright, if needed.
