[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Recommendation

Hi All

I’m new to this type of firearm so please forgive my lack of knowledge,

I’m after a recommendation on what platform to go with and as I live in Australia i am limited in what I can get access to. Does anyone have any recommendations on the following models my LGS can provide (This is not going to be used at a range it will be used on properties for feral animal control)

Daniel Defence V5 LW
Colt LE6920 (Socom Model)
Ruger SR556C

I thought ALL AR type weapons were banned in AU after the massacre at Port.... crap i forgot the exact name.... Arthur?

Not banned just highly restricted and i expect to have my permission soon.

All very good rifles. You would be happy with any of them..

The DD and Colt use very common parts... the Ruger only to a certain extent.

That alone ( IMHO ) would exclude the Ruger.... I know the Ruger is a fine rifle... but the DD and Colt parts are cheap and easy to get.

If you are varmint shooting.... I would get the free-floated DD.

Go with the DD. Comes free floated. Colt a close second.

Thanks for the advice, i was leaning towards the DD for the free floated barrel as getting the parts over here to install one on the colt is looking impossible.

Not that i can find, i did find another shop that has access to the following brands

LWRC
Bushmaster
DPMS
Knights Armament
Smith & Wesson
