OK, I'm a newb. I've shot handguns for years and finally (after wanting one for over 20 year) bought an AR. I'm also thinking of building one too (very ambitious). Anyway, I'm trying to decide on optics. From what I've observed, EOTech and Trijicon seem to be the leaders. Rather than starting an opinion war, what should I be looking for? Why would I choose one over the other? I don't have a problem spending money on the right product, but I don't want to waste it either.
I'm looking to shoot holes in targets from 50 to 200 yards. I hunt with a bow, but would use it for varmints. Of course I just love shooting period. Thanks in advance for you suggestions! |
| For small targets at 200yds, some magnification would be helpful. Lots of relatively inexpensive 3-9 variable scopes ($300-400) that will serve you well if you're not taking it into combat. I happen to like leupold right now, but really haven't tried that many brands. Neither Eotech nor Trijicon are best known for paper punching scopes, but I'm sure a 4x ACOG would serve you fine if that's what you were interested in, and it definitely has the cool factor. |
