What do gun ranges usually do with all the spent shells? They recycle them right. Do they do anything the slugs stuck in the dirt birms? Just curious... |

Lead mining is an expensive thing especially with the cost of fuel to run earth moving equipment these days and labor.Need lots of lead to go get plus the permit process from the EPA or other save their jobs government agencies. At our club we have on occasion participated in some light sifting and shoveling to get some lead for casting pistol bullets and that was work for what we got. Think most clubs will just keep shooting and not disturb the berms unless lead starts costing $200 plus a pound |
| Most of the reloadable brass will usually be snatched up by reloaders or the range will collect it and sell it off, if not, they can sell to scrap metal place for about $1.50 a lb. I've seen some indoor ranges just sweep up the splattered lead and projectiles and store them in drums for recycling as well |
