Couple years back I picked up 4 Red Jacket Mags at Academy Sports on close out.

Just curious if anyone knew who the OEM is for these. I saw them still being advertised on the Red Jacket website.

ASC, IIRC.

Not too sure though

How much did you pay?

I think I paid $7.99 a piece? This was at least a year and a half ago.

They're not bad mags. Probably the only RJ marketed product that is good to go.

And thanks for the response!

Hi,

Be careful using solvents to clean these if they have a Marlubed finish (rubberized Molybdenum disulfide).  The Marlube finish works well dried, but some solvents attack the rubber leaving a mess, it's identified by a its dark grey color and "Simple Green" will do a job on it's finish.  The ASC Teflon finish seems to work better but ASC's coater has had problems with Teflon in the past and a look at their coaters certs indicate they are not ISO Certified and the certification shown expired 2013.  I would use the term Caveat Emptor doing business with them.  I do buy ASC magazines if there is nothing else comparable i.e. 20 round 7.62x39, but that will change soon.

Regards:

They've already been Simple Green and stripped down to bare metal and refinished with Dry Lubricating film.
