I've pretty much decided on a COMPM4s, mainly due to what seems to be an Aimpoint preference here and on other firearms sites. The 10 year personal use warranty is also nice compared to EOTech's 2 year, I like the low battery tube, and I could be wrong but the optics seem like they'd be much better protected than the more open EOTech design. So talk me out of it if you can - I want reasons not to go with it. Yes, I've read through page upon page of the archives, and it seemed to all boil down to battery life being longer on an Aimpoint and shorter on the EOTech (not a big deal to me, I'll change them every month or 3 as PM if needed.)

It'll be going on a RRA Elite CAR A4 w/RRA carry handle. Will it sit too high on the carry handle to get an effective cheek weld? If I end up taking the carry handle off, what will be a good rear BUIS that will index with my front sight when deployed? (I'm assuming a BUIS on the receiver itself will block the optic when raised.)

I've got a M4s with Larue mount on my flattop. A Larue fixed BUIS sits behind it.

When using the red dot you look slightly above the fixed iron sights. If needed you drop your head slightly and you can acquire the irons, aiming thru the Aimpoint. Nothing to deploy.

Noone will talk you out of getting the best.

Next question - who's a good site sponsor to buy from? I'm looking for a good deal, obviously, but want to buy from a sponsor even if it means paying a little more. And from what I read it seems the COMPM4s has an integral Picatinny mount. Is this true?

The M3 is cheaper and my personal opinion i won't ever have another optic that relies on aa batteries........

I've never known anybody to have the watch style batteries leak (not saying it hasn't happened) ....i don't think i've ever met anyone unless they were really young that hasn't had  AA batteries leak.

That seems to be a non issue that proper PM should catch.

I am in the same boat as the OP and cannot decide on an optic for my flat top MRP. I like the EOtechs 65MOA ring and the 1MOA dot, Aimpoint's come with a min  of 2MOA dot correct? Has anyone noticed any difference in accuracy in an actual controlled setup between the two 1MOA EOtech and a 2MOA AIM? To many choices

How about mounting on the RRA carry handle vs on the receiver? Will the sight be too high for a good cheek weld on the carry handle, and more importantly will it be too high above the bore centerline for short-range shooting? Also, 2MOA or 4MOA dot? My old Armson OEGs had a 4MOA dot and I shot fine with them, but it seems that since you can actually look through the Aimpoint and focus on the dot a 2MOA may be better. Is it any harder to acquire the 2MOA dot over the 4MOA dot on an equivalent brightness level?  Right now I'm leaning more toward the M3 after reading acman145apc's post and doing more research - besides NVD compatibility, is there a real difference between the M3 and ML3?
