Been lurking here as I figured out my first AR purchase. Got some good info from the forums and was hoping I could get more!
Picked up a Primary Arms Gen 3 red dot that I thought was going to mount as 1/3 cowitness based on the description. Apparently I was wrong as it appears to be absolute instead. What size riser do I need for 1/3 cowitness and any suggestions on specific ones? |

I used a 1/2" riser and it came out to a perfect absolute co-witness. I can raise my head up and look over the rear sight and "lift" the dot off of the front sight and still see through the optic.
I would assume a 3/4" rise would get you to where you want to be. You could always order a cheapie 3/4" off of eBay as a proof of concept and see if that works for you. That's what I have now...I just did it to test and see if it would put the dot in the right place, but it was well made and fit tight so I just kept using it. |
