Is this accessory handy and worthwhile or does it just add bulk without adding a lot of utility?
ANy experiences/comments much appreciated.

Too heavy IMHO if you want to store two mags like that you're better off with one of those Israeli magazine clips.

I have one on my full size AR The top is closed so you will always have 2 unobstructed mags (no dirt mud snow etc.) at the ready There easy to install & remove If you have a few minutes and screw driver. You will need approx.a 5" deep rifle case to accomodate the added width to your rifle I've got the one and if I did not I would get one I like mine for probably more cosmetic than function

I like them only because I use an AR-15 for home defense and that way if I have to jump up in the middle of the night and grab just the rifle, I have a spare mag, not because I need the extra ammo but in case of malfuntion I can do an Immediate Action Drill and keep going. If you get one make sure it is the one that allows you to still operate the bolt catch.

I wish there were a way you could set them up so that the second mag could at your option be retained in the side housing (withough having to hold it there) even while you ejected the primary mag. That way I could just keep the mag in the secondary well in case of malfuntion as it would REALLY cut dowm the time needed and give me some ammo to shoot while I got another mag ready.

Thanks to all. FOrest, do you have a link/source for this Israeli product? Is it the best amongst all the various "hold 2 mags together" gizmos?
