Not sure if this is the correct forum. I got an original Redi-mag I bought back in the early 90's. I've seen some of the new ones that were skeleton-ized, and thinking about doing that to mine. I love the device and have trained with it often. I'd like my setup to be a little lighter. I can deal with it, but if I can shave some weight off, I'd be happier.
Thought about buying a new one, but I have this already and I'm cash sensitive right now. I can do the mods and make it look decent as I used to do machine work a few years back. I could probably shave half the weight off. Interested in the thoughts here. I can do this cheaper than $175 ETA: found the link I was thinking about: Redi-Mod |
| I used a cutting wheel on a Dremel to do mine. I used a different picture of a Redi Mag modification as a guide, drew the lines I wanted cut and went to town. Took me about 20 minutes or so to cut it up, clean it up and krylon it. The picture I used as a guide has more material removed than the one in your link. I use the redi mag on my house gun so that I have two magazines on the weapon, I did not care for the extra weight being carried on the weapon when I was in Iraq. |

I was thinking of buying one but haven't been willing to pony up just yet... Maybe I should just do it myself.
Just whip out the dremel and go to town.
