I am putting together a PSA lower build kit with an Anderson receiver.  The bolt catch was sticking inside the receiver.  I had to sand the bottom part of the bolt catch to make it smoothly go up/down.

Wondering what i can use to refinish the bottom part of the bolt catch?   Reading about cold bluing, it does not appear to offer much rust resistance.   Wondering if there is something better to use to refinish this part?

Many Thanks,

SB

Cold blue works fairly well to darken exposed steel.  End result depends on the alloy.  Some steels darken immediately while others seem to resist.  Some turn out black, others a kind of plum color.  If you want rust resistance, I recommend black Rustoleum.  I have a spray can of the 500 degree variety, I painted my SS barrel with a lifetime of touch ups left in the can. - CW
