Received this CH forge code M16A1 grimy, cruddy, rusted upper yesterday in the mail at 1730 hrs from Hunterex. Immediately stripped it, bagged all the parts, and soaked the upper in generous applications of CLP Breakfree.

</a>" />

Today I decided to give all the steel parts a facelift (sandblasted, parked, Breakfree'd) so the upper retains its original character........but the steel parts look armory retro'd refresh.

I share that opinion.    Heck of a difference, Galilman121

HunterX has poisoned you with RBRD and you will henceforth be forever broke.

May FSM bless your mortal soul.

The above same parts from Hunterex just got a lot of fresh parkerized love today (no parts box swapping.......that is cheating).

When I was digging through my buddies junk gun part drawer I came across a dimpled front take down pin that was a rust bucket as well. Since he needed some parts sandblasted and refurbed, I got the dimpled pin gratis. It looks good on my recent 604 build (see below), but now I need to find a rear one.

I caught the retro M-16 bug as a kid watching 70's TV shows and movies, so I am simply acquiring the toys now.......that I was forbidden to have then.

I love 601 and 602 carriers in 604s.  I did the same thing.

Just doing my part in the RBR diseased community to fill up racks of former M-16A1 armory racks.

The wife should have objected more strongly when I hauled this $50 dollar 1972 dated armory rack home........as I am now intent in filling up all the rifle racks open spaces.

Hunterex my 601/602 bolt carrier group came from the same place as the take down dimpled pin. It is amazing how all the "OLD SHIT" is discarded by people wanting TACTICOOL rifles. I about pooped myself when he offered it to me at $80.

After my 604 USAF style build last year,

I found a crusty, rusty grimy, LM forge code M-16A1 upper and built this sharp looking Retro AR-15 up all around it. The new CH forge code will be following suit shortly. It is definitely addictive fo sho.

very clean looking A1!
Did your "L M" upper have a sort of shiny grey finish to it?  I have one that does....might try to take some photos of it if you dont know what i am trying to describe...

Depending on the light source my LM upper goes from a black purple color indoors to a bronze-ish hue in natural sunlight. I love the way it was anodized as it has its own personality. My photo above (shot indoors) does it no justice.

Yes....mine too.  I guess its common thing found on the  "L M" uppers.  I like mine too....its neat and different.  I am going to use mine on a XM177E2 clone.  I know that the XM177E2 upper should have no forge codes...byt its what i got to use.  Thanks.  Good build!
