I'm having a little problem installing my A2 stock on the kit I ordered from J&T yesterday. Does anyone know of a more illustrated diagram that shows how it is put together? I have looked at this sites lower assembly instructions, but can not seem to understand just what is going on. Another question, in the J&T kit which way should the big spring be installed in the butt stock? With the metal piece inside towards the barrel, or towards the shooter? Sorry if my questions aren't too clear, I'm just having a bit of a problem trying to describe just what's going on. Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated. Later, JJ |

Screw the tube onto the receiver. Back off the tube and insert the buffer takedown detent and spring (hole in the back of the receiver at the end of the tube threads. Hold down the detent and screw the tube all the way in and tighten it. The lip of the tube will retain the pin, with only the center post sticking up. Install the front take down pin, including the detent and spring. Install the selector (it will be loose). Install the trigger/spring and disconnector/spring (large side goes down into the hammer slot. Install the hammer/spring (the spring legs will go over the hammer pins. Flip the receiver over and inset the selector detent/spring, then install the pistol grip to hold the spring in place (note the hole in the pistol grip for the spring. Insert the rear take down pin. Hold the receiver with the receiver extension up and the receiver on your leg. Insert the rear takedown pin detent and spring into the hole on the ejection side just above the take down pin. Put the receiver extension cap on the top of the tube, and lower the butt stock down the tube. As you get to the bottom, the stock will force the spring into the detent hole and hold the butt stock on the tube/receiver as you install the top butt plate screw. Set it aside. Grab the buffer and install the spring onto the spring with the crimped end towards the front of the buffer. Push the crimped spring end onto the step on the buffer and get ready to install the buffer, spring into the receiver. Cock the hammer, then push the spring into the receiver extension (tube) until the buffer retaining pin retains the front of the buffer. If you get lost, here is the repair manual that will walk you threw the build with pictures. The photo is a M-16, it will be the same as yours, but you will not have the Auto sear(#23) that installs above the selector. |

Yeah, these things are addictive. I ended up being pretty satisfied with the size of my 20". Thought it might be a little big, but compared to my Mosin Nagant M39, it feels as small as a handgun!!! I would like to get a carbine sooner or later, but unfortunately my budget won't allow it for a LONG TIME, gotta still graduate college and all before I can think about my next gun!!! Oh well, all in due time. Later, JJ |
