When you could not find any 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 it was nowhere to be found and if you did find it it was 7-10 bucks per box for wolf or Barneul unless you found some at Academy or some such. Now you can find AKs in 7.62x39 and 5.45 rifles almost anywhere from people trading them in and people have ammo for these rifles almost anywhere. I sold my AK to my brother and my SKS I traded for a complete AR lower. Ammo I sold to the gun shop for .18 cents a round because they gave me the price I was like sure. Now if you look around I see gunstores filled with 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 ammo. Makes me wonder if I want a 5.45x39 rifle. I do not think there is a shortage of ammo for 5.56 just a difference of the amount people are buying and the want to get more. I have 2 neighbors around me that I took to the range and they shot my AR and now they each own one and 1-2K of ammo. I think it is more popular now because of Katrina to have a rifle in a mil cal, troops leaving the service and getting a AR and last kids getting into the shooting sports and wanting what the miltary has. It is a cool factor. I see more young guys I guess I am one (28) with AR's and AKs than I do the older guys they uselly have M1's and M14's. Just an observation no scientific studies were part of this eval. |
