| I have an Armalite that I want to remove the brake from. Those things are LOUD. The question is do I leave the end of the barrel naked, or replace the break with a flash hider of some sort. I'd like to rifle to be as quiet as possible. Do flash hiders add to the perceived noise at all, or would a naked barrel be the quietest? |

Quoted: Ghostring, I'm not talking about that. It's just a question of whether or not flash hider make the rifle louder or not. Compensators and Breaks are going to be louder than Flash Hiders or Flash Suppressors because of the way they push the sound waves. Comps/Breaks are pushing the sound waves back at you or directly to the sides where a FH/FS projects the sound waves away from you. What state do you live in? That will be the thing that decides if you can get a Flash Hider or Flash Suppressor or ether. |

I would say a brake directs the blast in a way that excentuates the noise. a flash hider should not make the weapon "quieter", yet will typically be less blast than a brake |

The question is: which is quieter, a flash hider, or nothing at all?? |
