I have a DPMS bull 20" upper with the free float handguard and 4 rail gas block. How difficult would it be to remove the round handguards so I could replace it with a 4 rail handguard? What all needs to be done? Thanks! |

hold rifle between your legs, muzzle facing up. Use your knees to brace the receivers, and twist handguard counterclockwise. Unless someone at the factory got a little over-zealous with the strap wrench, it should break free with just a little 'oomph'. If yours has the old German torque value of GUTENTIGHT, you may need to add a drop or 2 of penetrating oil and/or apply your own strap wrench. If you end up using a vise to brace the receiver, (like I did) make sure you use some padding (I used an old leather tool belt) to avoid scratching the finish. (don't feel bad...I had to ask the same question a few years ago) edited to korekt publik ejookashun speling |
