I have a DPMS Varmint upper with the standard DPMS Two piece free float tube. I cannot loosen the loctite or adhesive that DPMS put on the threads to unscew the tube.... any suggestions? Thanks

Heat....like a hair drier or a heat gun if you are careful

Get ahold of DPMS and find out what they used and if they will tell you how the get it off.

I have heard but cannot verify that if you touch a soldering gun to the screw that it's a good way to heat it up.  Shorter for blue stuff, longer for red stuff.

A torch...just a simple torch.  A hair dryer won't cut it.  A wide flame is preferable.  A pencil type flame head for soldering won't do.

A heat gun will do it, I recently pulled a JP tube with the collar red loctited on.  I just used a heat gun and got the collar nice and warm and it only took moderate force to get the thing off.

+1 Just get it nice and warm, but be careful not to over heat it!

Heating it carefully will work, but if it is blue locktite, a penetrating oil will loosen it.  Kroil is a good choice.  Let let the assembly sit in a position that the oil seeps into the joint for a day or two, adding more oil once or twice.  If it's red locktite, heat is probably the only way to go.  The other thing is to make sure you use the right tools for disassembly –– wrong or poorly fitting tool = buggered-up parts.

1+    use a heat gun for about 3-4 minutes or a hair dryer for 10-15 min.   be patient.

Propane torch until you see a tiny puff of smoke, thats the adhesive vaporizing.

Then you're ready to take the part off.   It only takes a few seconds to make the puff of smoke happen.
