I have a Colt 20 inch pencil barrel that I bought back during the ban.  It is a very good barrel.  However, it had the bayonet lug cut off.

I would like to replace the FSB but I cannot get one of the pins out.  The other one comes out fine.

I am not a novice in that I have removed scores of FSBs before.

I tried soaking the pin in Krols and I have a FSB pin punch and know how to clamp down the barrel but no matter what I do I just can get that pin to move.  It is frustrating as hell.

I am debating on sending it to a real pro like Heatnbeat and either getting him to put in a new FSB or cut it down for a 605 build.

However, I can’t stand failure so I would really like to remove that pin myself.  I am reluctant to use a blowtorch to heat it up because I figure I would screw up the finish and no telling what else.

I could cut it off with a Dremel but then that is admitting defeat.

Any suggestions?

It needs to soak in PB blaster for a day or two.If it does not come out then heat it up with a torch. As long as you are careful,it will not mess up the parkerizing.

This was going to be my suggestion before even reading the whole post.

Mine too.

But if you're still set on removing it, take it by a machine shop and get it pressed out.

Sell it to a poor soul in a ban state and buy a colt barrel from landman off the trader.    I can even suggest someone to sell it to

I started using a bigger hammer... it worked

Sometimes small and delicate just wont cut the mustard

I break the 2 ends off a Q-tip,lay them on top of the stubborn pins, keep them wet with PB blaster.Let sit for a few days,,,be sure to keep them real wet. Then try again.I had to leave one for 4 days, but most only take 2

when I did my bushmaster i had a 1 pound ballpeen and got nowhere.

all my force was being dissipated

moving up to the short handled sledge made a huge change in the applied force

and even then, the rear pin needed a serious wack to get it moving
