Hi

I have a Colt A2 Sporter II (probably mid '80's) that I am trying to remove the buffer tube (standard fixed stock). Its never been removed I'm sure. It is cinched on pretty tight. I vised the receiver (carefully) and wrenched it from the tube end, but its not budging. Any suggestions or advice?

(BTW this is a registered lower so I cant replace it)

I may just have to take it to a pro.

Thanks for any input

Just my 2 cents,,soak it with one of these for a few days.Kriol,WD40,PB blaster,or CLP breakfree.Maybe warm it with an electric heat gun,but let it sit for a few,,let the oil do it's job.I just removed an early bend gas tube that I was afraid I ould mangle trying to remove,,(1965 vintage original to the upper),I let it sit for a week, then gently jiggled back and forth. Just don't force it.. I don't know if Colt used a thread locker like Loctite or not,but if they did,the heat gun will help soften that as well. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip. I did get a heat gun. At about the 800F setting I heated it for several minutes (blowing in the tube). It wasnt budging so I gave it a little torque once and POP. At first it sounded like a break. It threaded out smooth after than. Didnt see any red Loctite, but there was a slightly sweet smell (that may have been the heat gun).

Appreciate the help
