I was thinking about removing my front sight and just using an eotech or a pinpoint type scope. What do I do for a strap? Is there a way to keep the iron sights and still use these?
I have a flat top receiver.

You will need a gas block. They make them with rails so you can add a BUIS (back up iron sight). They also have them with the BUIS installed. You could just use the Eotech with what you have on.

Are you speaking of an A2 front sight base? If so I would just keep it. Most of the A4 models keep the standard A2 front sight, put a flip-up rear behind your optic and use your Aimpoint, etc. just like normal.
