I picked up some early 90's preban 30 round USGI mags that were heavily used.  They do seem in decent shape, but I was thinking of treating them to new followers.  I hear a lot about Magpul's followers - are they the best replacement option?  Also, should the springs be replaced?  If so, then who makes good replacement springs?  Thanks

The last 9 mags I've bought have been with the Magpul followers and I'm impressed, I've been unable to get the follower to tilt and jam up from pushing on the corners, something you can't do with the std USGI followers. As for replacing the springs, if your only going to use the mags for range/hunting use where a mag induced jam isn't a matter of life or death, then I'd try them with the current springs and see how they work. The few mags I've had to replace springs in I just used the std stainless steel spring, I have a few C product mags with the CS springs and I  don't really see why  the chrome silicon springs would be that much better.
