I've got a Bushy upper with A2 flash hider and I'm fixing to build up a CA OLL to go underneath it.  Can I get by with a receiver block or should I clamp the barrel before attemping removing the flash hider and installing a muzzle brake?

Thanks.

From what I can understand of your post, you should use a barrel vise to change the FH. Using a receiver block will put alot of stress on the barrel pin (it's proper name escapes me right now), possibly damaging the slot in the receiver that the barrel pin goes in or even snapping the pin off.

What does the abbreviations (CA OLL) mean?

CA OLL (California Off List Lower)  can be built into rifles as long as they don't run afoul of the California feature ban.   In my case I'm planning to build the lower with a detachable magazine, but no "pistol" grip.  Consequently, the upper that goes on it can't have a flash hider, which it does.  Before I put the two together into a rifle, I've got to take off the flash hider and replace it with a muzzle brake.

And thanks for the advice on the barrel vice BTW
