All, Need help from the Retro Hive. I just received my 3 Bushmaster 4-pos telestocks today. I decided to get a few of them this time around because A) They were on sale, and B) They look as close to authentic as any 4 position telestock can nowadays. Well, I was pleased and disappointed all at the same time. The buffer tube is a nice flat park, as apposed to the gloss black I've seen on some of the other telestocks I've bought recently. There was also very little mold marks on the stock itself. Last, the checkering on the butt is consistent and not worn off... and the sling notch on top is squared as apposed to having obtuse angles I've seen on again, other commercial stocks. Here is my disappointment: The Castle Nut. When I bought my first two Bushmaster telestocks in 2004, they had a Castle Nuts that were relatively thin, and had a hole on each side, opposite each other, for the old style telestock wrenches. With the new stocks I received today, the Castle Nuts are wider, and have squared notches on each end. They have no holes on either side for the older telestock wrenches. Now, I know that this would appear to be a trivial gripe. But guys, I really do have nothing better to complain about. I suppose that puts me ahead of the game. But take a look at the photos below. If anyone can help point me in the right direction as to where I can find the old style Castle Nut, I would be very grateful. I was even considering asking 45bravo if he could come up with something similar, since he already does an outstanding job with is barrel work. Just a note... Model 1 Sales does not have the old style Castle Nut. I bought 2 stocks from them a few months ago. See below. The holes are not punched all the way through the metal. They also have the large wrench notches on the ends like the new Castle Nut. FWIW, here (left, below) is the Telestock 4 position Locking Nut, Part No. 5310-917-1153 I purchased from Bushmaster about three months ago:
It looks like what you're after. I can't say if it makes a difference, but I did order it by itself and not as part of a complete stock. Call BM and ask - they're usually pretty helpful on the phone. |

That's why I passed on the sale. I wanted the Fiberlight to replicate my favorite IDF pic...which I post gratuitously.
