Yeah, I know I tricked you with the title. It's been a slow day, though, and it is retro, and it is a Colt.

I wish I knew! That's how I got it. That gun has the best action of ANY firearm I own. Prime vintage Colt action.

I've got a couple of those Tyler T-Grips...Sadly, I understand that Melvin Tyler has passed away...

Edit: His family seems to be keeping the business going...

That is a shame. I use them too on my older wheelguns. They're the best!

Nice Colt!

Is that a Pre-Colt Trooper?

T-grips are still readily available, although sometimes you have to wait a little bit for your order. They don't seem to keep standing stock. I've gotten all of mine off Ebay, and they're usually cheaper. I run them on my Smith & Wessons too. They look great and make the service stocks, well, serviceable!

That's the Colt .357, the 'target grade' version of the Trooper. It didn't last very long, just until 1958, when it was replaced by the Python. It does, however, have the finely tuned action of the Python; it just doesn't have the barrel underlug. They're generally far cheaper than Pythons, but they shoot just as well.

Top, 1968 Colt Junior.  Bottom, 1919 Model 1908 Vest Pocket.

1912 Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless.

By the way, the old guns are not RETRO, they are VINTAGE!

Does Retro not mean what I think it means?

I've always equated it to mean a modern reproduction.

Ooh ooh!!! Alan Ladd; "This Gun For Hire"...

I've wanted one for quite a bit...ever since I saw the movie, in fact...sometime in the late '50's...

According to Proofhouse, my Detective Special is a 1963...I thought it was older...

In the immortal words of MC Hammer,

STOP, HAMMER TIME!!!!!!!!

This Colt .38 was manufactured in 1919.

I'd play my really early Colt trump card but lets see what else shows up first.  By the by, I'll bet a case of Miller High life that I've got the earliest Colt maufactured assault rifle here.

Springfield 1903?  Too much junk between me and it right now.  This one was closer to the front but you'll have to settle for 1903A4, not 1903.

Breaks over, time for me to get back to work.

Nah, Sarco had a .32ACP 1903 in their .pdf ad on the site for $250, like 80 or 90%?!?

QUIET - that would look really great if you chopped the barrel and put a synthetic stock on it...  KIDDING! I'M KIDDING! Seriously, that's beautiful. Now if you just had the Alaskan for it....or do you just have to dig for it?

Hmmm....I smell an old Navy cap and ball with a stock on it or something of that nature.

There's a Colt 1907 trials .45 for sale right now on GB - he's asking $25K - it's pretty cool. Guess it's one of 165 made or something like that.
