Eugene Stoner's 5.56mm generations (sorry crappy camera = crappy pictures) Bolt carrier groups   Stoner 63A carbine trigger group compared to a AR-180 Costa Mesa lower receiver. Notice how the AR-180 resembles the earlier Stoner 63A lower. I'm not sure why they did not use the stock latch mechanism from the Stoner carbine on the AR-180 because it is much stronger but I guess also more expensive.      |

It was too close to the 63 and would accept "evil" parts. It is really a shame that Alex Robinson's attempt wasn't so far off the mark. ka |
