Yeah, I know it is not correct but the parts are "retro inspired" and it will be fun at the range. Besides most of the Muggles won't know the difference any way. The A1 hand grip is real, the 6-hole hand guards are reproduction (off the EE). The upper receiver is a used Bushmaster A1/C7 (from the EE). The barrel is a Bushmaster M4 (on sale from Copes) with a slip-on Faux moderator (off the EE). Lower receiver is a Matrix Aerospace A2 (I like these because the roll mark is very subtle) with a PSA PTAC LPK providing a surprisingly nice trigger. The aluminum stock is Bushmaster commercial spec (off the EE). The magazine is GI with an aluminum follower. I call it my XM-177/C7

The firewood is real and was split by hand with a maul the old-fashioned way.

Nice retro inspired carbine. I just bought an A2 lower with even more subtle markings.

Wow, the only stealthier lower I have seen is the PSA Stealth. Oh, and full disclosure, I also like the Matrix receivers because I get them for $60 out-the-door. Apparently Matrix also makes the lower receiver for the Ruger SR-556.

I know I say this a lot but its true, aside from the moderator you have a pretty correct 723 there.

Basically any variation of an A1 upper with a carbine gas system and a CAR stock can be a 723, they used just about everything on them.

Pencil or M4 barrels, straight or tapered slip rings, A1 or C7 uppers, A1 or A2 lowers.

It's all 'correct'.

I have most of the parts for a 723 build also but will probably go with a fiberlight stock. Carbines are fun.
