I saw 45Bravo's moderator. Looks very good. Why does the original one require a tax stamp ?

Reduces the original report by about 2 decibels.
Any reduction in noise requires a tax stamp.
The inside has baffles/expansion chambers.

You really could not tell the difference. I put a lot of rounds through a GAU 5/A/A and it was just as loud as an M-16.

Largely because it does reduce noise when a .22LR kit is used. Doesn't do didley on .223 though.
