I have a brand new Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x40. I want to mount it directly to the flattop of an Armalite AR-10. I have the Leupold steel Mark 4 high rings.
Whats the best suggestion to keep from making rings on the scope? Would I be best to go with a one-piece mount setup? Although the Larue one piece mount may be one of the best I think its the ugliest. I like the design / style of the KAC and Nightforce. Would there be any benefit to using the Leupold rings? Any suggestions would help? |

You might take a look at the Armalite 1-piece mount. It is very good especially for the money. I used one for a long time and never had any issues other than repeating zero if I removed it. It wasn't a big shift (less than 1 MOA) but did move none the less. Personally, I like the Larue but any of what you listed should work fine. |

Leupold Mk4 rings are strong, and pretty darn nice. Since you already have them, and as long as the height suits you, that's what I would use. I also recommend lapping the rings, though, for maximum efficiency. Midway sells what appears to be a nice product for this (other places like Brownells also sell lapping bars). Check out the video to see how to use it. Be sure to get the proper size for your scope tube (this link is for the 30mm tube, but they also carry one for a 1" tube).
