I will start by saying I have basic knowledge of the operating system of an AR platform and filimiar with most products.  I know most set ups are personal preference but I want some professional and useful opinions.

I am a LEO however aren't allowed to carry a AR-15 at work (totally different topic I don't want to discuss )  I may be put on a tactical team in the next year or so and maybe allowed to start carrying while on a normal tour of duty.

My questions are based off of my current set up and how to progress forward to a more reliable and user friendly set up.

I want to upgrade the following:  SBR 10.5 inch set up with a good piston system, good ambi-safety, change my rail (possibly a MOE for cost and how light they are), buttstock, and flash hider.

Current set up:  RRA CAR-4, Houge grip, Yankee Hill rail, streamlight C4 led light mounted at the 6 O’clock position with a pressure switch, rear flip up co-witnessed with an Aimpoint M3, single point sling, CAA cheek weld, fore grip, and a spikes tactical buffer.  I think that’s all of it.

Thank you for viewing and posting

You could look to LMT for a good piston set-up. You mention wanting to use the MOE handguard. The LMT will let you do that. They run a piston set-up with a front sight and handguard cap. You could also look into an MRP. It uses a unique barrel system which allows for quick change.

I would think, for tactical application, the rail would serve you well for attachment of vertical foregrips and/or lights/lasers.
