I am building a mid-length with a BCM 16 middy upper and want a Magpul CTR. I’m getting ready to buy my buffer, buffer tube extension & spring and wanted a reality check if you don’t mind.
My understanding is that for the CTR I need a carbine length mil-spec receiver extension. I am planning on running a Spikes ST-T2 buffer & carbine spring. Should it run well? |

If you get a Magpul CTR mil-spec size model also get a mil-spec size receiver extension (buffer tube) for proper fit, if you get a commercial CTR model also get a commercial size buffer tube.
I have two BCM mil-spec buffer tube complete kits and had been very satisfied with them, they are on the bigger side of the outer diameter tolerance and fits snug on all my mil-spec size stocks like my CTR, Vltor IMOD, EMOD, Colt M4 and LMT M4 stocks. I'm running a standard BCM H heavy carbine buffer on my 16" midlength carbine with M16 auto BCG and it works well on my several types of surplus military ammo, I had also tried my H2 buffer and no problems. I'm a very long time AR carbine owner of 27 years now and very conservative in using standard parts like buffers, in my opinion they had worked well in the past and newer types of buffers does not really have a big noticeable improvement, but it's your coin so feel free and get what you want. http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Stock-Hardware-Mounting-Kit-Mil-Spec-p/stock%20hardware%20kit.htm |
