Just bought an EOTech (512) for the AR.
It sits a little low for me.

1. What is the average / normal / most preferred riser height?
2. Which company should I buy from?

Thanks for your help.

I bought 4 so far.  All have been a medium highth because that is all my scopes and red dots need to clear the front sight tower.  Your situation may be different.  I paid about $15 apiece for mine at the local gunshows.  The stores around here wanted about $50 bucks for them...go figure.  And the cheepies that I bought are very square and dimensionally good.  They are pretty tough aluminum, so I do not see the advantage of the more costly units.

I've got a LaRue that cost $125 (raises sight 5/8") and a Yankee Hill that cost $35 (raises sight 1/2"). For me they work equally as well. The LaRue's a QD, but if you're cowitnessing through an Eotech I don't see the need to spring the extra $90.
