Just picked up an AAC blackout flash hider and the install instructions say to use rockset and torque to 30 ft lbs. Do I really need to use the rockset if I torque it properly? Just seems overkill.

You only need the Rocksett and shims on the suppressor mount models.

It is a suppressor mount. it did not come with any shims though. I eventually will get the suppressor so I will follow manufacture instructions. Thanks!

No shims for a blackout, it doesn't need to be timed. ABSOLUTELY on the Rockset if you ever put a can on it.
