HI guys,

New member here.  I've done so searches, and I found a lot of information about this, but nothing really answered my question.

I have a DD 16" mid-length LW upper with a round handguard cap.  I'm currently using MOE handguards, but I want to put on an A2 style handguard.  Trouble is, all the companies I know that make A2 style handguards for mid-lengths, only work with triangular handguard caps.

So here's my question, is there any down side to switch to a triangular cap?  My local gun store seemed shocked when I asked, and told me you could only get surplus triangular caps (which I know is wrong).  So is there any downsides, or any reason I shouldn't?

Just had one changed out. No big deal.

Carbine length gets the round handguard cap and mid length needs the triangle.  Just get it switched.
