Just got some new Wolf MC (polymer stuff I believe) and more then a few rounds have some surface rust on them. Should I be concerned or should I just try to remove it and shoot away?

RUST Must have been stored in a humid enviroment, where did you get it from? |

| In the past I've heard people say things along the line "a little rust" is normal, or not a big deal, but no one could convince me that rust on ammo is normal. How bad/how much of the ammo is affected would dictate how much of a fuss I made to the vendor.. Pics, an email followed up with a phone call is a good start. It may not be THAT bad, it's still shootable and you could manage to get some sort of compensation. Or maybe it's so bad that you should accept nothing other than sending it back...Hard to tell, any way you can give us some pics? |
I'm found quite a bit of rust on the polymer stuff from various distributors. Unfortunately, that is the trade off. The newer polymer stuff is better for your weapon in that it doesn't gum it up like the lacquer did. But, it's also much more prone to rust than the old lacquer finish. I'll buy the Poly Wolf for something I plan to shoot soon, but definitely not for long term storage. |

| keep you AR properly lubed and you will be fine. Here in Hawaii, the humidity is so high, mold grows on glass. All my wolff stuff that is not in plastic has surface rust dust. Never had a problem until about 150 rounds or if it was raining on me while shooting. but a few drops of oil would fix it. I carry a tiny bottle of clp on me when ever I am shooting my AR. My AK on the other hand, just keeps going, I think I am slowly beconing a convert to the AK side. The tapered 7.63x30 rounds just never get stuck... but that is a discussion out of scope of this thread... |
