| I did not know where to put this .A guy I work with wanted me to try to get some rust off his shotgun that he left outside for a few days? What is the best way to do this? |

If light, I would use steel wool in 000 or 0000 size with KROIL or breakfree type CLP. Let the oil soak for a few minutes and then lightly buff just enough to loosen the rust. Wipe clean with a cotton cloth and leave a final CLP film for protection. If heavy, the above may work but you will have to accept the pitting when done. Hootbro |
+1 Or if the finish is to far gone due to the rust, and your buddy doesn’t care about looks, you could try some Birchwood Casey Blue & Rust Remover. Then touch up the affected areas with Cold Blue. www.birchwoodcasey.com/sport/blueing_index.asp?categoryID=1&subcat=5&prodcat=55 |

Try some brass wool, I think you can get it through Brownells, you can scrub pretty hard with it, and not harm the bluing, and it will get all the rust out. I restore old military firearms, and brass wool is the best at getting rust out, and not harming the finish!!!! Good luck, and let us know how it turns out! John |
