I am a metioculously clean rifle owner...I mean, downright anal about cleaning my rifle after each use. So I was shocked to find what appears to be light rust on the two bottom most locking lug channels on the breach face (not bolt). Either that or a massive discoloration from copper jacketed bullets since the rounds feed over those channels...it comes off, but always seems to come back despite a storage coating of CLP. Any thoughts as to: a) what this might be; and b) how to prevent it if indeed it is rust...?

You might be seeing a depositing of copper forming on the feed ramps. A q-tip dipped in copper solvent and a tooth brush should clean it up.

Break-Free Bore Cleaning Foam applied to the ramps is the way I remove the deposits.

After you have the ramps cleaned up, protect them with a light coat of CLP.
