I recently ran across some ammo packed just like the ammo in the SA battle packs - 30 rounds to a brown box, etc.
The box was marked "30 Cart. .223 Rem. 55gr FJBT" and the headstamp is "DNL .223 REM"
Other than the box label and headstamp, it looks just like the regular battle pack SA ammo. It's not the commercially packed "Gazzel" ammo.  Anyone know the story on this?  Thanks!

Ammo with the headstamp "DNL .223 REM" is manufactured by Denel of South Africa. I saw some at Randall's, in Glendale, today.

That's the newer "military" SA ammo that Cole Distributing used to sell a lot of.  It's late production ammo, and it's Boxer-primed (reloadable), but it is not loaded to M193 velocities, unfortunately.
